The guide is a bit late this month due to Easter frivolities and illness, but that means I can also extend it to include early May bank holiday events, happy days!
News
Oddly the weekend before the bank holiday weekend is the one full of festivals – Saturday 27th has three taking place across the city: The Great Bristol Wine Fest at Paintworks, Sausage & Cider Festival at Document in St Jude’s, and Gin & Rum Festival at City Hall.
Speaking of festivals, tickets are now on sale for Feast On – coming o The Downs from 26th – 28th July, featuring food traders, talks, wine tasting, cookery demos and more.
Boat trips are back! Join Bristol Ferry for their Thirsty Thursday cruises or trips to Beese’s for Friday music or weekend events, or you can book a Fish & Chips Trip on The Matthew on Wednesdays, or a cream tea cruise with Bristol Packet on Wednesdays and Sundays throughout spring and summer.
Following their grand opening a few weeks ago, Goldbrick House have announced a programme of regular events including a Whispering Angel Bottomless Brunch every Saturday, for £60 per person. Tickets include a canape and a glass of Bollinger Champagne followed by a 90 minute brunch with unlimited Whispering Angel Rose or premium beers or soft drinks and a grazing table.
Just announced for May is the Good For The Gut Supper Club at Better Food in St Werburghs, in collaboration with Bath Culture House. The dinner is on 17th May and tickets are priced at £35 per person for a range of small plates based around fermented foods.

New places to visit
Condesa is now open on Whiteladies Road (I’m going later this week and can’t wait!), Anna Cake Couture have opened a second shop in Wapping Wharf (where Eatchu have also set up a little van), and The Sugarloaf pub is reopening under new management in Easton.
I also recently spotted Main Street Kitchen next to Temple Meads, serving up tacos and the occasional smash burger.
Dareshack have announced that they’re opening a second cafe on Christmas Steps in the coming months, and popular Bath Turkish restaurant Cappadocia are opening their first Bristol restaurant on Baldwin Street shortly.
Seven Lucky Gods are planning to open a Japanese deli in Wapping Wharf, Scandi-style cafe Gather is coming to Park Street soon, and Emzi is a new coffee shop just off Whiteladies Road in Clifton.
That’s it for this month, let me know what you’re planning on booking over on Twitter or Threads, see what I’m eating on Instagram or see the latest local food news by following A Life Less Organised on Facebook.
