Bristol Food & Drink: September

It’s 10 days late, but better late than never! Despite the delay, I couldn’t miss out on telling you about the exciting events and openings this month, and it’s definitely a bumper month for festivals and new places.

Remember to let me know over on the socials what you’re going to book – I love hearing what you all get up to!

News

Congratulations to RAGÙ in Wapping Wharf for being added to The Michelin Guide, joining its sister restaurant COR!

One of my favourite breweries, Good Chemistry, is looking for new owners. Kelly and Bob are moving on to new projects after ten years at the helm, and I’m relieved to hear that their pubs The Kings Head and The Good Measure are staying open as usual, and that they’re looking for a new safe pair of hands to take on running the brewery. So get in touch via their website if you think that could be you!

Head to Broadmead on Sunday 14th for a Latin Market, with dancers, music, and lots of great South American food!

Fancy a free brunch? Head along to Terrace at 43 on Whiteladies Road on Wed 17th Sept, where the first 50 guests will eat for free, and everyone else gets 50% off plus a 50% off voucher for next time!

Also, my updated guide to Bristol went up on TimeOut recently, and I’m particularly chuffed that they let me give a special shout out to St Werburghs, which I think is one to watch for food and drink at the moment.

Festivals and celebrations

One of the biggest events this month is Bristol Cocktail Weekend (25th – 28th), where you can nab a wristband to drink your way around the city’s top bars and try exclusive £6 cocktails or £5 mocktails, and get exclusive food offers. The line-up of bars & cocktails, special events and offers this year is really good, so take a look!

Coming up this weekend are four festivals in different corners of the city – Redcatch Beer Festival in Knowle/Totterdown, BS3 Jammin’ in Southville, Vegan Fest at the Left Handed Giant Taproom in St Phillips, and The Autumn South Glos Food & Drink Festival at Bristol & Bath Science Park.

Head to Clifton on Sat 20th for Steam Fest, which will feature street food, live music, stalls and artist all day. Wristbands are £15 and include a meal, a drink and access to special offers. The same day sees a celebration of cask beers at the LHG Brewpub, featuring 27 beers!

On Friday 26th you can enjoy Salsa music, latin street food and rum cocktails at Coexist Community Kitchen, or that weekend sees the first ever FŌDA Festival at Arnolfini, a festival for small-scale food & drink suppliers with talks, workshops and networking.

It seems like everyone is going Oktoberfest mad this month, from beery specials at places like Three Brothers Burgers, Froth and Fries and The Greyhound in Fishponds in the last week of September, to proper Oktoberfest-themed events, including Wiper and True X Pasture Oktoberfest Feast (Sat 20th) and Lost and Grounded’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Oktoberfest, which will also see the launch of their Festbier.
